Playful Therapy

Remember when you played pretend?

Your imagination let you be anything, feel anything, do anything. You were infinitely adaptable to every obstacle within your world. And when your creation got too scary, you knew it would be ok. You were just playing.

By adulthood, most of us feel like we’ve lost this gift. We’re afraid.

Afraid of messing up, making bad decisions, disappointing our loves, stepping into our power. The fear piles up around us, until any choice feels impossible.

We know what’s wrong, but we can’t make change. All data, no spark.

I help my clients reunite with the forgotten parts of themselves. Together, we harness their childhood bravery to heal the past and imagine a liberated future. Through curiosity, laughter, and insight deeper than language, my clients rediscover their inherent wisdom.

And if you were never allowed to play or just aren’t sure how? Don’t worry, we can figure it out together.

Old Souls

I work with deep thinkers of all ages (guess what, I’m one too!).

As children, we plugged into the energy around us, sensing thoughts and feelings way beyond our developmental capacity. Now after decades of practice, our insight is unparalleled.

We see the context and the contradictions. The beauty and the BS. The inner workings and the outer workings with emotional and political factors to boot.

But the doing. The damn doing is so overwhelming. How can we move forward when we are constantly confronted by so many opposing truths!?!

We will embrace your superpowers of perception and:

  • Find your intuition (It’s not gone, I promise!).

  • Interpret messages from your emotions and body to help you make decisions.

  • Learn to rest. Rest that rejuvenates, not just hitting pause and numbing out.

Super Gay

My work is for LGBTQIA folks.

Full stop.

Our elders bequeathed us the courage to play with pride! Everyday we flout straight-cis culture, embodying something more sly, more slippery, more subversive.

I especially cherish working with LGBTQIA kids and their families. Whatever truth your child knows about themself, I will honor it with all of my heart.

Hi, I’m Shawny

Here’s what I promise to bring to our work:

Authenticity.

Cheesiness.

Listening with my whole spirit.

A big laugh.

Deep questions. Like, really deep.

The courage to go there, wherever your there is.

An eye for context. Physical, emotional, financial, historical, political.

A commitment to undoing the legacy of white supremacy in my body.

A challenge when you need it.

A refuge when you don’t.

Presence, not pathology.

Healing is a gift for yourself and your community.

I’d love to help you get there.
